Perched atop the old rampart of 1291 – but accessible by a wide and comfortable staircase built to modern standards – this apartment offers a unique, romantic and unusual charm. The roof structure rises to more than 5 meters above the living space which opens to the four cardinal points. A large window bay connects the sitting and dining areas to a sheltered terrace of 12 m2 facing south, in front of the old roofs of Riquewihr.

Another window of the lounge opens to the east. Beyond the church tower, gables and roofs of Riquewihr, you can see the famous Schoenenbourg vineyards and the nearby village of Zellenberg. On clear days the view extends beyond the plain of Alsace and the river Rhine to the small volcanic hills of Kaiserstuhl, Germany (excellent vineyard, just 45 minutes drive from Riquewihr) and to the mountains of the Black Forest!
On the other side, to the west, the dining area, kitchen and bedroom are overlooking the famous Thieves Tower at the corner of the rampart. The hillside vineyards give way to forests and mountains of the Vosges …

Finally, to the north, the windows of the bedroom are overlooking the impressive rampart of 1291 and offer exceptional views of the most famous vineyards of Riquewihr (grand cru Schoenenbourg)! At harvest time, you’ll watch the winegrowers pick the precious grapes, and throughout the year, you can follow the meticulous work of the winemaker.
