For centuries, the vineyards of Riquewihr have produced some of the most beautiful wines of Alsace and the world. Since 1575 it was forbidden in Riquewihr, on pain of a heavy fine, to plant and cultivate anything other than noble vine stocks. This allowed to produce some of the most famous wines in Europe.
Regularly our guests staying in our holiday apartments in the historical village of Riquewihr were insisting in having the opportunity to get deeper in the world of our local wines. With this new private (10 people maximum) wine seminar in English open to every wine lover we are fulfilling their wishes!
- Learn how to taste and serve wines like a pro! Wine service and wine tasting explained under the guidance of Jean-Paul Krebs who is also an active member of the Alsatian wine society Confrérie St-Etienne. Take your new skills back home and use them with any wines.
- Discover the wines of Alsace, Riquewihr and their history.
- Taste 9 great wines of Riquewihr, including some Grands Crus.

Where does the wine seminar take place?
The venue used to be a former winery built in 1580 and facing the most famous vineyards of Riquewihr, the Schoenenbourg hill. It was recently re-built and converted in several outstanding holiday apartments. The seminar takes place in the authentic medieval wine cellar of the house, now a comfortable seminar room, under the 700 year old defence wall of Riquewihr.
The seminar starts at 11:30 and ends at 2:00 pm. See the booking calendar for the dates.
Who can participate?
Every wine lover, beginner or advanced is welcome. A minimum of 6, maximum 10 participants. We want the seminar to remain as private, efficient and friendly as possible.
The seminar is led by Jean-Paul Krebs
